YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program

Interest Form

If you are at risk for Type 2 Diabetes, the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program can help. This program offers small group classes that meet for 16 sessions over the course of a year. Classes are led by a trained lifestyle coach, and you’ll work together with your group to learn strategies to help prevent the disease.

If you would like a quick general assessment of your risk-level for type 2 diabetes, take the Risk Test provided by the American Diabetes Association®.

Classes will be starting October 8th, 2024 at the Roxbury, Waltham, and Menino (Hyde Park) YMCA’s.

PROGRAM GOALS

  • Learn strategies to eat healthier
  • Increase physical activity to 150 minutes per day
  • Lose 5-7% of your body weight

This program is offered in collaboration with Vital Connections and the Codman and Mattapan Community Health Centers. If you are interested in this program, please complete the interest form below, and you will be among the first to know when registration is available.

Guided by trained instructors, participants progress through six swimming stages, focusing on techniques such as floating, stroke development, and endurance, all while fostering a love for swimming and lifelong water safety awareness.
