Since 1975, the ILC has provided over 32,500 immigrants and refugees with English language lessons to help them succeed in the U.S. by enhancing English language literacy for adults and families, helping New Americans successfully navigate American workplaces, schools, and communities. We offer a wide array of classes and schedules, both in-house and at local businesses. Immigrants and refugees with English fluency levels ranging from zero English to college level receive services at the ILC. As participants improve their English, they gain the skills and confidence needed to succeed personally and professionally in the U.S. Our offerings include two long-standing Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Adult and Community Learning Services (ACLS)-funded adult ESOL programs in Boston and Woburn, MA.
International Learning Centers:
The Education & Training Branch has International Learning Centers (ILC) in Boston and Woburn. The ILC mission is to give non-native English speakers an opportunity to meet their personal, educational, and employment goals by offering a range of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes and services.
ILC Boston
Located in downtown Boston, ILC Boston offer ESOL classes, advising, career advancement and other opportunities to meet their personal, educational, and employment goals.
ILC Woburn
The YMCA’s Woburn ILC has been serving immigrants in the Woburn area for over 24 years. In addition to learning English for everyday life, students improve their technology skills, they learn the language and skills needed for employment opportunities in the 21st century, and they increase their American cultural awareness. Advisors in the program help students set goals, assist them with planning for higher education, certifications and/or getting jobs in the United States.
