Swimming Lessons For All

To prevent youth drownings and ensure local families can enjoy a safe summer in the water, the YMCA of Greater Boston is offering over 400 children free swim lessons this Summer with funding generously provided by Enbridge, DCR, Yawkey, PHTA, USA Swimming and the Y of the USA. The free program will extend through the fall with additional lessons for 400 children.

Swimming lessons save lives. You can help the Y provide more swim lessons for youth and adults by making a donation to the YMCA of Greater Boston. Help us teach everyone how to be safe around water.

How To Enroll

 
To enroll in our free swimming lessons, please complete the interest form below. This form will be used to create your user profile and allow a YMCA team member to register you for classes. After completing the form a YMCA Team member will call you to connect you to the right class for your swimmer.

Participating YMCA centers include Charlestown YMCA, East Boston YMCA (Umana pool), Dorchester YMCA, Huntington Ave. YMCA, Oak Square YMCA, Parkway YMCA, Roxbury YMCA, Thomas M. Menino YMCA, and Wang YMCA of Chinatown.

Winter lesson dates: January 2 – February 18, 2024 (7 weeks)
Early Spring lesson dates: February 26 – April 14, 2024 (7 weeks)
Late Spring lesson dates: April 22 – June 23, 2024 (9 weeks)

Deeply rooted in our community, it is the mission of the YMCA to make our programs affordable for all. Programs are available to all regardless of age, income, ability, race or religion. The demographic and personal information in this form is being collected as part of the grant requirements for reporting.

The YMCA of Greater Boston has embraced inclusivity by prioritizing registration for free swim lessons. The focus is on individuals who are beginners or non-swimmers and have not previously benefited from grant-funded lessons. By focusing on this group, the YMCA aims to bridge the gap for those who haven’t had the opportunity to access such vital training. Through this initiative, we are not only promoting water safety but also fostering an environment of equitable access to essential life skills, ensuring that everyone has the chance to learn and enjoy the lifesaving skill of swimming.
