Brighton, MA – March 7, 2012 – The YMCA of Greater Boston is pleased to welcome Aaron Donahue as the new Executive Director of the Oak Square YMCA. A fourteen year YMCA veteran, Donahue is committed to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility—the Y’s areas of focus—and strengthening communities.
A graduate of the University of Colorado who began his YMCA career as a Youth Sports Coordinator, Donahue was most recently responsible for management and leadership in the areas of membership, programs, financial development, fiscal management and board development as the Executive Director of the Olean Family YMCA in Olean, NY. During this time in Olean, Donahue grew the number of people the YMCA served and increased the Strong Kids financial assistance campaign by 44%.
In his new role as Executive Director of the Oak Square YMCA in Brighton, Donahue says he is excited to build on the successes of the branch within recent years: “living in the Boston area has always been a dream of mine, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead an exciting branch into the next phase of its history.”
“Aaron’s unbounded enthusiasm for the core mission of the Y [is] readily apparent,” said Will Luzier, Chairman of the Oak Square YMCA Board of Directors. “His energy and dynamism will be a great asset for Oak Square, and the Board is excited to work with him.”
