Youth Employment Commitment – Meaningful Employment
We prepare young people for the workforce through youth employment opportunities by hiring young people as early as age 16 into age-appropriate positions. We understand that Youth employment is extremely beneficial for young people.
It teaches responsibility, organization, time management, establishing good work habits, experience, and financial stability. Knowing how to find and keep a job is not only critical for admission to the adult world but also is an important survival skill for which there is limited access to formal and structured preparation. To increase our impact in the Greater Boston community, several branches partner with community agencies who place young people in YMCA positions. We strive to equip youth with the necessary skills and guidance needed to be successful in the workforce. Each year we employ over 500 teens, making the YMCA of Greater Boston one of the largest youth employment locations.
