Training, Inc. Summer Academy 2022
The Training, Inc. Summer Academy is a series of job training courses designed for adult learners that are looking to develop their job skills, career, and economic mobility. The Training, Inc. Summer Academy is designed for participants to be able to take one or more courses being offered throughout the summer. The Summer Academy will culminate with a Training, Inc. Career Fair for employer partners and Academy participants to network and develop career connections.
Course Descriptions
Career Readiness for Beginner Jobseekers
Participants can expect to receive all the essentials needed to secure their dream job! This course focuses on preparing participants to conduct a successful job search and career advising. Participants will receive individualized support from experienced staff to develop a job search portfolio that includes a resume, cover letter, professional references and thank you note; learn the essential skills of interviewing; and will be introduced to labor market information and job searching.
Target Audience: New to the workforce, limited work history
Class Size: 10-12
Location: Remote
Prerequisites: Basic computer skills (including MS Word), computer and internet access required.
Duration: Monday through Thursday
- Cycle 1: July 11-July 21
- Cycle 2: July 25-August 4
- Cycle 3: August 22-September 1
Time: 9:00am-11:00am
Career Readiness for Intermediate Jobseekers
Participants can expect to receive all the essentials needed to secure their dream job! This course focuses on preparing the intermediate jobseeker to conduct a successful job search with career advising. Participants will have the opportunity to receive a critique of their job search documents including resume, cover letter and thank you note from experienced staff and will learn how their workplace personality type connects to their career interest area. In addition, the course will explore a variety of labor market tools, networking and interviewing for job search success.
Target Audience: Career transitions – mid career
Class Size: 10-12
Location: Remote
Prerequisites: Basic computer skills (including MS Word), computer and internet access required.

Microsoft Office Skills (MS) for Beginners
Gain the cutting-edge Microsoft skills that companies are seeking in their employees. MS beginner introduces the basic Microsoft applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint. At the conclusion of this course, you will have a portfolio of work highlighting your MS suite application skills.
Target Audience: New to the workforce, limited work history

Microsoft Office Skills (MS) Intermediate – Advanced
Gain the cutting-edge Microsoft skills that companies are seeking in their employees. MS Intermediate to Advanced provides an in-depth breakdown of MS applications Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, One Note, and SharePoint. At the conclusion of this course, you will have a portfolio of work highlighting your MS suite application skills.
Target Audience: Intermediate-Advanced (career transitions-mid career)

Business Administration & Human Resources Fundamentals and Office Simulation
This module teaches entry-level skills per business office model and includes human resource department fundamentals. The module is comprised of 2 sections, 3 weeks of skills building and 3 weeks in a simulated office collaboration where participants learn HR recruitment, benefits management, payroll, and employee communications. One on one career advising will also be offered weekly per participant.
Target Audience: Job seekers in the business industry

Time: Wednesday-Friday; 9:00am-3:00pm
Medical Office & Health Insurance Fundamentals and Office Simulation
Healthcare jobs are in high demand. The first 3 weeks of this module teaches the facilitation processes for general patient registration and support services, and includes medical terminology, HIPAA guidelines, health insurances overview. The last 3 weeks focus on skill building in 2 simulated offices: medical office or health insurance company. During simulation, participants will become familiar with all duties from patient registration to claims processing and billing. One on one career advising will also be offered weekly per participant.
Target Audience: Job seekers in the Medical Office industry
Class Size: 8-12
Location: Remote
Prerequisites: Basic computer skills (including Microsoft Office), computer and internet access required. Proof of immunizations, vaccines, HS/GED/HiSET.
