Dear YMCA Families,
When District public schools are closed due to inclement weather, out of school time sites located at schools are closed, and the YMCA will be open for full day on-site programming for children enrolled in its afterschool programs. Children who will be attending the Y on such a day should arrive at the program no later than 9:30 AM and bring a lunch (children in our Infant, Toddler, Preschool Programs will be served meals as usual).
In the event that a statewide state of emergency is declared by the Governor, YMCA Early Education, Out of School Time Programs, and/or camp will be closed.
In the event that schools dismiss early due to weather, children will accepted at school-based afterschool programs (at the usual time) until a parent or authorized release person can pick up the child. Community-based programs (at the Y) will be open regular program hours. Children’s arrivals and departures will be closely monitored to ensure safety; phone calls from parents regarding attendance are crucial under these circumstances.
A YMCA Early Education, Out of School Time, or Camp Program will not close or dismiss early if there is no state of emergency, however, if conditions worsen during the day, parents may be contacted to consider the safety of their families’ commute, as well as that of the staff, and encouraged to arrive as promptly as possible or send an authorized release person to pick up their child(ren).
Please remember to watch the YMCA of Greater Boston website for program updates and the latest news regarding your child’s program.
