We LOVED family camp at NW/PVC.  Best family vaca we've taken.  My boys (4 & 7) are begging to come back, and even hard-to-please Dad enjoyed it.  The staff, activities, food , and fellow campers were terrific. We  plan to sign up for 2015 as soon as you'll accept the paperwork  :)

Welcome to North Woods and Pleasant Valley Family Camp

We are happy to have you join us this summer.  The bulletin board at the dining hall is an excellent source of information about the programs available to you and your family.  There is something for everyone!  Please take time to browse the bulletin board when planning your daily activities.  Our enthusiastic staff is willing to assist you as needed.  Feel free to share any ideas or concerns that you may wish to address.  We look forward to providing you with an enjoyable and relaxing vacation experience.

Things You Need to Know at NWC & PVC Family Camp

Office Hours: 8 am-Noon; 1-5 pm daily. 2-5 pm Sunday
Fax service is available in the office. Hrs:  9 am-Noon & 1-4:30 pm Mon-Fri.
Outgoing $2 first page; $1 each additional; Incoming $1/page.

Our infirmary is located at the office.  Hours are the same as office.  Most basic first aid supplies are available there.  Huggins Hospital is 6 miles south on route 109 in Wolfeboro for more serious health needs.

Sit down family-style dinners, all other meals are buffet-style.

Sunday’s Arrival Schedule

Check in: 1–5pm
Check in will be held in the Barstow Lodge Office between 1 and 5 pm. During this time our enthusiastic staff will be leading tours of Camp to help your family get oriented. We will also have staff at our North Woods waterfront to perform swim checks. The swim checks are to help insure the safety of your children. They will be asked to show us the ability to do basic strokes.

Dinner: 6pm
Dinner will be in the Great Hall followed by a few general announcements during which all staff and campers will get an opportunity to meet and settle in.

Orientation: 7:15pm
This orientation will give the staff an opportunity to introduce themselves. It is also the perfect time for us to run through the schedule for the week and answer any questions you may have for us.
We will also offer any late arrivals tours after the orientation as long as there is enough light or on Monday.

Opening Camp Fire: 8:30pm
The opening camp fire is great chance for the families and staff to hang out together, chat and get to know one another while enjoying S’mores. Bring your instruments, your singing voices, stories and anything else you would like to share.  We hope this helps families and staff to begin building the relationships that make camp a fun and welcoming place to be.

Family Camp’s Daily Schedule (This is a SAMPLE, Subject to change)

8:00 am: Breakfast in the Great Hall

9:00 – 11:30am: The Children’s programs

  • Busy Bee’s (3-5yrs) – Inside the Great Hall
  • Cub’s (6-12yrs) – On the Roehrig Center Porch
  • Free to Be... (13 and up) Main porch of the Great Hall

These programs are a great chance for the kids to make friends with other kids their own age while getting the chance to get to know camp and staff.

9.15 – 10:15am: Morning Hike (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday)
Meets at the North Woods bell tower
An enthusiastic member of staff will offer hikes around camp through some of the various trails and roads around our beautiful 200 acre site while talking about camp and the environment around us.

9:30 – 11:30am: Water Front (Monday only there will be a Sailing Qualification)

  • Water Ski/Tubing (sign up) All Days

  • Horseback (sign up) Mon Tues Weds

  • Wood shop (8yrs and up) Tues Weds Thurs

  • Rifle (11yrs and up) (sign up) Tues and Thurs

12 noon: Lunch in the Great Hall

2:00 – 4:30 pm:

  • Rifle (11yrs and up) Weds and Fri

  • Horseback (sign up) Mon Tues Weds

  • Ropes (sign up)

  • Arts and Crafts (sign up) Mon Tues Thus

  • Water Ski/Tubing (sign up) All Days

2:00 – 4:30pm: Field Trips (sign up)
On Tuesday and Wednesday we offer the chance to do something out of camp such as a local trail hike and a canoe or boat trip to one of the islands on the lake. These trips are announced at Breakfast so we can have them all signed up and ready to leave after lunch.

2:00 – 5:00pm: Waterfront

4:00 – 5:00pm: Camp Store

6:00 pm: Dinner (cook out on Thursday)

7:15pm: Evening Activity (Varies every evening)

Ugly Counselor Competition (Great Hall)

After dinner you will be assigned a counselor who will represent your cabin in our famous ugly counselor competition. You will have 30 minutes to dress them up ugly, give them a personality and prepare a talent. Your counselor will be judged to win a prize for your cabin.

Sunset Cruise & Line Dancing

Please meet at Sandy Island boat dock at 6:30pm. The boat will be leaving at that time and will be returning at around 9:30pm.

Please bring your dancing shoes. J

Saturday we have breakfast at 8am with checkout between 9 and 11am. During checkout the camp store will be open and the water front will be open for one last time.
