Reading, MA – March 12, 2012 – The YMCA of Greater Boston announced today that Irene Collins has joined the Burbank YMCA as Executive Director.

Previously, Collins was the Executive Director of the Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce. She was responsible for directing all initiatives of the organization including community development, board development, volunteer management and fund-raising. During her four years at the Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce, Collins also performed tactical operations such as program and event management, corporate, public and government relations, branding and membership retention. "Over the past five years Irene has done an outstanding job in leading the Chamber and supporting the local business community”, said Pat Lee, Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce President. “We appreciated her tireless efforts and dedication to our organization. I speak for all of us when I say we will miss her, but wish her continued success in her new position at the Burbank Y." Collins started her career in communications and has served as communications manager and consultant for Fidelity Investments.

“Although we interviewed several highly-qualified candidates, Irene’s background, experiences, and skill set in the areas of board development, community development, and fund raising, as well as employee and public relations within our surrounding areas, make her the ideal fit”, said Thomas B. O’Rourke Chairman of the Reading Burbank YMCA Board of Directors.

Collins earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communications from Western Michigan University. She is a long-time resident of North Reading and 12 year member of the Burbank YMCA.
