Joseph Gaeta, Senior Teen Program Director This summer, the Y of Greater Boston offered free memberships to teens, giving them unlimited access to 13 branches and all of the activities and privileges of membership.  Over 5,000 teens took advantage of the special “Get Summer” memberships at their local Y’s and enjoyed free trips, life building skills classes, teen exclusive group exercise classes, dances, open mic nights, leaderships opportunities and much more. “The Y is where I go with my friends, and this summer has been great because there was so much more offered” said East Boston teen Juan.

But for the 250,000 children who received free or reduced lunch during the school year, summer vacation can be a time of worry and hunger.
