YMCA BPS Out-of-School Time Initiative
The YMCA of Greater Boston is teaming up with the Boston Public Schools (BPS) to ensure that Boston kids have the academic and social support they need to succeed.
The YMCA operates 22 after school sites located in Boston Public Schools engaging over 800 students in grades K-6. This exciting endeavor further strengthens our ties with these 20 schools. YMCA Site Directors work alongside teachers during the school day – for 6-10 hours per week - supporting BPS' Acceleration Agenda, the school district's five year plan for rapidly improving student achievement across all grade levels and communities. As a result, the YMCA can better align after school activities to support in-school learning and develop meaningful partnerships that support children and families alike.
Our initiative also brings together key community leaders from the YMCA, our partnering schools, and other community organizations that are committed to providing access to high quality education for all children.
